Adequate exercise is important to maintaining the longevity of all dwarf hamster varieties. The lifespan of Campbell dwarf hamsters and Chinese dwarf hamsters is a little bit lower, with an average of 2 – 2.5 years. The current Guinness record for world’s oldest hamster stands at 4.5 years and is held by a UK-owned hamster of unknown species  (though it’s probably safe to assume it was a dwarf hamster, rather than a Syrian). Campbell’s Hamster Characteristics. Campbell’s Dwarf Hamsters have an average life span of 18 – 24 months when raised in captivity. They become sexually mature at only 5 weeks and their litters usually contain 4 – 6 pups, which are born after a gestation period of 18 – 21 days. The pair may mate again immediately after birth.
